Ivo de Figueiredo

Agnete Brun

Ivo de Figueiredo (b 1966, Norway) is a historian, author and critic.

He holds a higher degree in history from the University of Oslo (1994). In 1999 he wrote The history of Fredrikstad VI: towards a new millennium 1964–93, which was the start of a comprehensive writing career with several historical works, biographies and books for young people. De Figueiredo is a literature critic in the newspaper Morgenbladet and teaches at the Aschehoug and Scandinavian University Press non-fiction writing school.

He has received the Brage Prize and the Norwegian Language Council’s Prize for first-class use of Norwegian in non-fiction.

In autumn 2023 he published the first volume of The Storm: a biography of Edvard Munch. The second volume is expected in autumn 2024.
