Children in war

Can literature help children in war? The illustrated book How War Changed Rondo by the Ukrainian husband-and-wife team Romana Romanyshyn and Andryj Lesiv was written as a reaction to the Russian invasion of the Crimean Peninsula in 2014. The book has been translated into several languages.

The book became topical once again when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. Families with children fleeing from the war received a rucksack containing the book as a farewell gift when they crossed the border.

The two author-illustrators hope to salvage the hope that peace one day will come. The couple meet Heidi Bøhagen for a conversation about how we can use literature to talk with children about war. The audience will be able to ask questions.
