Cancelled: The author as an activist: a conversation with Meena Kandasamy

The Tamil-Indian author Meena Kandasamy has used different genres in the course of her writing career, and she has been successful as a poet, novelist and translator, her recent translated publication being Book of Desire. A feature which connects her writing together is activism. As a confirmed feminist and anti-caste activist, Kandasamy’s literary production is characterised by a desire to abolish oppression, particularly the kind that she has experienced herself.

In conversation with the American-Norwegian poet Rasma Haidri Kandasamy will discuss her writing, with the social issues involved and the forms of expression she has chosen as the starting-point.
