Erlend Loe (b 1969, Norway) is an author, filmmaker, scriptwriter, translator and critic.

When he received the Liv Ullman Prize in 2016 the jury verdict was that he was ‘a multi-artist who has greatly influenced the Norwegian arts scene throughout the last twenty years’. As an author he made his debut with Tatt av kvinnen in 1963, and he made his breakthrough with Naiv. Super in 1996. Since then he has published several critically acclaimed and award-winning novels and children’s books, which have been translated into a variety of languages.

Loe is also a film critic, has written several film scripts and been involved in writing scripts for two major Norwegian television series. His most recent book is Drømmenes sykkelregister from 2023.
