Jason Reynolds

Jason Reynolds (b 1983, USA) is a North American author and poet. He has written several prize-winning young adult novels, and The Track Series reached the New York Times bestseller list.

Reynolds has a BA in English from the University of Maryland. His first novel, When I was the greatest (2014), won the highly regarded Coretta Scott King Prize. As Brave As You (2016) has received such honours as the NAACP Image Award, and he was a finalist for the prestigious National Book Award with the novel Ghost (2016).

His book Long Way Down (2017), written in free verse, depicts violence and the use of weapons among US youth. In 2020, Reynolds was named a national ambassador for young people’s literature by the US Library of Congress.

Written entirely in spare verse, this is a tour de force from a writer who continues to demonstrate his skill as an exceptionally perceptive chronicler of what it means to be a black teen in America.
