Marie Darrieussecq

Marie Darrieussecq (b 1969, France) is an award-winning French novelist with an international readership.

Her first novel, Pig Tales. A Novel of Lust and Transformation, was accepted by its editor in under 24 hours, and enabled its author to leave her teaching position at the University of Lille to concentrate on a full-time career as a writer. It was chosen as a finalist for France’s most prestigious literary award, the Prix Goncourt, and was translated into 24 languages.

Two of Darrieussecq’s subsequent novels have also received Prix Goncourt nominations, and Il faut beaucoup des hommes won the Prix Médicis in 2013.
