Kjersti Bjørkmo

Kjersti Bjørkmo (b 1971, Norway) is a poet from Northern Norway, currently living and working in Oslo.

She made her literary debut in 2014 with the poetry collection Jeg har prøvd å bli venn med dyrene; a second collection, Hadde du bodd her hadde du vært hjemme nå, followed in 2019.

Reviewers have praised her for the way she handles heavy themes with a lightness of touch: her latest collection takes its inspiration from the mottos of various Norwegian kommuner (municipalities). Bjørkmo works for The Fritt Ord Foundation.
