What are we doing with the billions?

NOK 8 317 billion is held by Norwegians in the Government Pension Fund – Global, popularly known as the “oil fund”. That works out at NOK 1.5 million per head. Does every Norwegian share a responsibility for how this money is invested?

Economist Camilla Bakken Øvald believes they do. She maintains that Norwegians know too little about their huge sovereign wealth fund and how it affects their lives, the policies pursued by Norway and their identity as Norwegians. Bakken Øvald meets Torfinn Harding, associate professor at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) for a conversation about all the cash – and how the oil fund resembles George Clooney.

This event is a collaboration with the NHH.

The event is in Norwegian.
