Øystein Skjælaaen

Øystein Skjælaaen (b 1977, Norway) is an author, researcher and musician.

He has studied substance abuse for many years at the Norwegian Institute for Alcohol and Drug Research (Sirus) and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. Skjælaaen made his non-fiction debut in 2019 with Meningen med rus, which covers both research findings and his own experiences. He also plays bass in the folk-rock band Real Ones, which was formed in 1994 and has won two Norwegian Grammy awards.
